The dog days of summer are upon us, and if you’re spending time outside, you definitely want to have some music playing to heighten the summer time vibe. Unfortunately when the weather is hot, headphones aren’t a lot of fun. Plus, if you’re in the pool you really shouldn’t wear them. Thankfully Bluetooth speakers exist to fill the summertime air with music.
On great thing about Bluetooth speakers is how inexpensive they are. You can get a decent speaker for as little as $20, but with this sale you can get even better versions and still not pay a lot of money. On top of producing surprising levels of volume, a lot of these speakers are waterproof or splash resistant, making them the best possible way to listen to music just about anywhere.
The first few selections are premium brands you definitely recognize. If you’re looking for budget, scroll down. There are some Bluetooth speakers with solid reviews from companies you might not be familiar with you can pick up on the cheap.
JBL Xtreme Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
The JBL Bluetooth speaker line is great. They produce great sound, built like tanks, and have an instantly recognizable logo, especially if you play NBA 2K. JBL also makes waterproof speakers, but they aren’t on sale at the moment.
Sony h.ear go Portable Bluetooth Speaker
This is a simple, understated Bluetooth speaker from Sony, one of the most trusted names in audio and electronics. The awkwardly named h.ear go speaker has GoogleCast capabilities in addition to Bluetooth connectivity.
Sony Ultra-Portable Bluetooth Speaker
This cool little portable speaker from Sony has the ability to pair with another Ultra-Portable speaker, for twice as much power. It sounds like a no-brainer, but that’s actually a really cool function.
Beats made a name for itself by making bass-heavy personal sound equipment. Initial criticism over its tendency to lean toward the low-end has pretty much gone away as Beats have improved in quality. This Bluetooth speaker thumps, is what I’m saying.
Photive M90 Portable Bluetooth Speaker with Wireless Built-In Subwoofer
If you need a loud, great sounding Bluetooth speaker and don’t care about brand recognition, these Photive speakers have super solid reviews and don’t cost anywhere near as much as comparable speakers from JBL or Beats.
Photive HYDRA Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Speaker
I like waterproof speakers because I can take one into the bathroom and sing in the shower. That’s one of the most important functions I look for in a Bluetooth speaker, and this one is fully equipped to deliver great sound so you can belt out the hits.
Photive CYREN II Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker
This is another low-cost option for a waterproof Bluetooth speaker from Photive. I’m not suggesting you dunk this in the lake when you’re out for a summer excursion, but if you don’t want to worry about a sudden rain storm ruining your music enjoyment, grab yourself a waterproof speaker.
iHome Color-Changing Rechargeable Bluetooth Speaker
The marriage of Bluetooth sound and color-changing lights makes every listening experience into a tiny nightclub. This super cheap Bluetooth speaker from iHome also looks like some sort of universe-altering device from a 1980s sci-fi movie.
RuggedLife Water Resistant Bluetooth Speaker
Cheap and water resistant, if you just want a small Bluetooth speaker to haul around with you from room to room, get yourself one of these. At the price, you could probably get one for every room in your house. Not trying to tell you how to live your life, but if you get 4 of these you unlock free shipping.
iHome Flask-Shaped Bluetooth Stereo Speaker
“Hey man, can I get a little nip from that flask?” “Sure, if you like drinking my Spotify playlist!” This is definitely a gimmicky Bluetooth speaker, but it’s cheap, it’s cool looking, and you can carry it in the breast pocket of your tuxedo when you meet the Queen of England!
