Fantastic Four #1 – $5.99
Writer Dan Slott | Artists Sara Pichelli, Simopne Bianchi & Skottie Young | Cover Artist Esad Ribic (Marvel Comics)
It’s been far too long since Marvel has published a monthly Fantastic Four comic. Marvel Legacy #1 teased the return of Marvel’s First Family, and a year later, Marvel is finally making good on that promise. The Fantastic Four are returning to once again serve as a beacon of hope and wonder in the Marvel U.
It’s not just this return that has us excited, but the creative team Marvel has assembled. Dan Slott has excelled with these characters whenever he’s tackled them in the past, and Sara Pichelli helped reinvent Spider-Man when she co-created Miles Morales in 2013. Together, these two may be just what Marvel needs to put the team back on top.
Black Badge #1 – $3.99
Writer Matt Kindt | Artists Matt Kindt & Tyler Jenkins (BOOM! Studios)
Grass Kings fans will be pleased to see Matt Kindt and Tyler Jenkins reuniting for another creator-owned project. Black Badge delivers an intriguing premise, as it stars a scout troop who are sent to carry out missions too dangerous and sensitive for adults. Throw in a mystery involving the return of a long-dead member and you have all the ingredients for a compelling new series.
Supergirl #21 – $3.99
Writer Marc Andreyko | Artist Kevin Maguire | Cover Artist Terry Dodson (DC Comics)
Supergirl has been off the stands for the past few months, but it’s not canceled by any stretch. The series returns with issue #21 this week, complete with a new creative team, new status quo and even a new look for Kara Zor-El. In the wake of man of Steel, Kara is venturing into space to uncover the truth about Rogol Zaar and whether he truly is responsible for Krypton’s destruction. Can even Zaar’s axe protect her from the dangers lurking in the cosmos?
Hey Kids! Comics #1 – $3.99
Writer/Artist Howard Chaykin | Cover Artist Don Cameron (Image Comics)
The comic book industry has a very colorful and sometimes sordid past, with stories behind the scenes often proving as fascinating as the ones being published. With Hey Kids! Comics, writer/artist Howard Chaykin is setting out to tell some of those stories. We’re looking forward to a wild, illuminating journey through an industry that has a bad habit of treating its most important members very poorly.
